That’s right, the Black Business Pitch Competition by Sonder Impact is back!
The Black Business Pitch Competition by Sonder Impact is a prize competition hosted by Sonder Impact that provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative products, technologies, or services in particular industries.
To enter the Competition, there is a non-refundable registration fee ($39 early bird through January 26th, $49 after). This fee includes entry to Round 1 of the Black Business Pitch Competition and admission to the live pitch competition on March 2, 2023.
Up to 10 finalists will be selected to move forward to Round 2 and participate in a live pitch competition on Thursday, March 2nd at Sip & Sonder, a coffee roastery and coffeehouse in Inglewood, CA, where a panel of expert judges will award a total of $5,000 to three prize winners. All winners will have the opportunity to access not only growth capital, but also pitch feedback, and entrepreneurial training.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
At least 18 years of age
Business at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by person(s) who are members of a group that has been traditionally underrepresented in the receipt of startup funding
Business operating in Los Angeles, CA
Business operating for less than five (5) years
No direct or indirect operating relationship with an existing large scale corporation, investment fund, or government agency
Owners/immediate family members not employed or contracted by Sonder Impact
Annual business revenues less than $1,000,000
All determinations of participant eligibility shall be made in the sole discretion of Sonder Impact.
Prizes
The Black Business Pitch Competition by Sonder Impact will award a total of $5,000 to three prize winners as follows:
1st Place: $3,000
2nd Place: $1,500
3rd Place: $500
Terms and Conditions
Sonder Impact reserves the right to adjust the number of finalists at any time. To qualify for the prize, participants must be present during the entirety of the live pitch event on March 2, 2023. No pre-recorded presentations will be allowed. All public sessions of the live pitch event may be recorded and re-broadcast by the event organizers, the public at large, or members of the media. Participants should not expect or assume any rights of confidentiality related to data or information presented or discussed during public sessions. Competition organizers reserve the right to disqualify any application submission that it deems inappropriate, unethical, or offensive, or to disqualify any finalist that violates the rules of the live pitch event.

How to Enter
The application period opens at 9:00am PST on January 19, 2023. Applicants must submit an application via the below link to enter the competition. Failure to submit a complete application, including any of the required documents or registration fee, will result in the disqualification of your application.
The application period closes on February 5, 2023 at 11:59pm PST.
